That is me in middle.

My name is Siegfried and I have just started a month journey of Muay Thai training in Thailand. I decided to document that journey here is this blog.

A short history…

I a digital nomad who has been traveling across South East Asia for the last couple of months. One of my big goals while traveling was maintaining a high level of fitness and health as one can easily slip into a downward spiral whilst on the road.

6 Months prior to traveling I started to focus on my fitness and health for the first time in ten years. I quit smoking, signed up to the gym and to ensure that I go, I enlisted the services of a personal trainer.

This was a turning point in my life because sitting in front of a computer and not getting out much takes its time after 10 years. So after hitting the gym 3 times a week for 6 months, I decided to hit the road and take my business with me.

It has been a blast but one of the biggest challenges was not losing the momentum which I had gained over the last 6 months.

Initially I did some push ups, sit ups in my hotel room and went for runs but I felt that I needed more. Then I found the Body Weight Fitness Routine on Reddit which changed everything.

As the name says, it is a routine composed entirely of body weight exercises and for me this was perfect as I could not commit to a gym whilst traveling. I kept up with this routine for my first two months of traveling but then another challenge arose. The Vietnam 70.3 Iron Man.

It is a race consisting of a 2km swim, a 90km bike ride and a 21km run. Challenge accepted. I heard about the event 40 days prior to it and signed up 20 days prior to it. I knew that physically I was in good shape but I had not swam or rode a bicycle, on a training level in years.

I immediately worked out a routine and managed to get fit enough to complete the Iron Man, with virtually no training. It is one of the proudest moments of my life. After the event I felt I needed another challenge and that is what brought me here. To Phuket, at a Muay Thai gym.

I decided whilst I am in this part of the world why not. So this blog will document my journey and I also plan to keep blogging once I am done and it will mostly be health and fitness related. Enjoy!
